Claudi Mans Teixidó (Badalona, 1948). B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry for the University of Barcelona (UB), 1974. Emeritus Professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering, UB. He has served as director of the Department of Chemical Engineering, dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and president of the Division of Sciences at the same university. He has written textbooks and books about every-day science, like "Tortilla quemada" ("Burned omelett"), "Los secretos de las etiquetas" ("The secrets of the labels"), or "Sferificaciones y macarrones" ("Spherifications and macaroni"), more than 100 papers, contributions to congresses and plenty of conferences, including both research and vulgarization items. The main areas of research are now engineering of colloidal systems, processes of industrial chemistry, and popular science. Coordinator or member of several European and national research projects. Now he serves as delegate of the UB for the coordination of the new Campus on Food Sciences of the UB. Consultant of the Agency for the Quality of the Universitary System in Catalonia, the science center CosmoCaixa, the Department of Education of Catalonia, and the Foundation Alicia. Member of the Scientific Commitee of Fundación Triptolemos. Member of the Advisory Board of the Symposia Formula 5 (2007, London), 6 (2010, Stockholm) and 7 (2013, Mulhouse). The most recent award received has been the National Prize of Chemistry of the ANQUE (National Association of Spanish Chemists) in 2011.
