Master student at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili
Research topic: Bioengineering and microbiology
My name is Gerard Massons, I’m 23 and I’m currently a student at URV chemical engineering master at ETSEQ. I’m a biotechnology graduated also at URV and my fields interest are in bioengineering and microbiology. I’ve been doing internships in different areas of biotechnology, in silico research for nutrigenomics, plant breeding based on lipogenesis, microbial decolorization of pulp-paper mill effluent, algae bioremediation and paper mill COD waste reduction.
When I heard about the CEICS Nobel campus event where six Nobel Prize-winners will come to Tarragona and the chance to meet them, see other innovative projects in the areas where I’m really interested. It would be a pleasure to meet them, heard them and try to learn as much as I can from it, it’s likely that this will be a unique chance that I have in my life and its passion and inspiration will be really useful for my future in research, learn from the top scientist in the world is something that you cannot ignore, even if it so challenging for me and a bit frightening, I’m not so qualified as most of the people there but I been improving in the previous years and that what I will do in the following years and this event is a big motivation for my experience.
