Postdoctoral Researcher at the Leibniz-Institute for Catalysis
Research topic: Palladium-catalyzed carbonylative Heck reaction
Xiao-Feng Wu was born in 1985, China. He studied chemistry in Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (China), where he got his bachelor’s degree in science (2007). In the same year, he went to Rennes 1 University (France) and worked with Prof C. Darcel on iron catalyzed reactions. After earned his master’s degree in 2009, he joined Matthias Beller’s group in Leibniz-Institute for Catalysis (Germany), where he completed his PhD thesis in 2012.01.03. Then he started his independent research in ZSTU and LIKAT. His research interests include carbonylation reactions, heterocycles synthesis, and the catalytic application of cheap metals.
"I wish to experience the formal and informal interaction with Nobel laureates and I want to benefit and learn from their experiences and knowledge. I want to discuss my own research with the different Nobel laureates and wish to have their opinions and suggestions on the importance and further development of catalysis in general. Furthermore, I want to establish contracts with other high quality young researchers. I would like to discuss their experiences and research in more detail. Finally, I am interested in getting some more knowledge about Spain and Catalunia, the country in general and the research done there in special (this would be my first time in this part of Europe)."
