Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Groningen
Research topic: Bio-organic Chemistry
Dr. Kiran Matcha received his PhD in organic chemistry, from Indian Association for the Cultivation of science, working on asymmetric synthesis of natural products. He later joined the groups of Prof. A. J. Minnaard and Dr. A. K. H. Hirsch, at the University of Groningen, as a postdoctoral researcher working on synthesis mediated by asymmetric catalysis, methodology development and computational analysis of protein-small molecule interactions. Currently, he is at the Max-Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, Dortmund, Germany, investigating metal free routes for synthesis of bioactive compound libraries, via C-H activation. His research interests encompass organic synthesis, homogenous catalysis, and organocatalysis. By participating at the CEICS, he hopes to meet, build contacts and interact with best of young researchers in Europe, along with pioneering scientists and Nobel Laureates. This would assist him greatly in planning and laying the foundation for his career as an independent researcher.
