PhD student at the Technische Universitaet Berlin
Research topic: "The reconstituted biosynthesis of a cyclodepsipeptide antibiotic in a heterologous host organism"
I received my educational background in the interdisciplinary field of biotechnology at the Technische Universitaet Berlin, Germany, and the Dongseo University Busan, South Korea. After my graduation in 2009, I joined the graduate school of the German Excellence Cluster “Unifying Concepts in Catalysis” (UniCat) in Berlin under the supervision of Prof. Peter Neubauer and Prof. Roderich Süssmuth. My research project deals with the reconstituted biosynthesis of a cyclodepsipeptide antibiotic in a heterologous host organism. I find the possibility to apply and engineer whole cells and enzymes to develop solutions for global challenges most interesting. The CEICS Nobel Campus is a wonderful opportunity to meet and discuss with leading scientists from academia and industry, which will be a very valuable experience. To have this opportunity accompanied by other young scientists from all over Europe and from different chemistry-related fields is an additional value I am looking forward to.
