Postdoctoral researcher at Bayer
Research topic: Oxidative catalytic processes
Dr. Alvaro Iglesias studied at the Universidad de Oviedo in Spain developing his master thesis under the guidance of Prof. Dr. José Barluenga. Then he joined Prof. Dr. Michael Schmittel´s group at the Universität Siegen (Germany) for supramolecular chemistry research developing new heteroleptic and homoleptic (Bisphenanthroline) Copper(I) complexes for the construction of nanocages with different photophysical properties obtaining his Diplomarbeit in 2005. After this time he started his PhD thesis under the direction of Prof. Dr. Kilian Muñiz at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms Universität Bonn in Germany working in homogeneous catalysis on metal-catalyzed activation of N-N multiple bonds and their catalytic transfer to organic molecules. One year later he continued his research in the same group developing new transition metal-catalyzed nitrogen transfer reactions such as diamination of unactivated olefins in the Institut de Science et Ingeniérie Supramoleculaires at the Université de Strasbourg (France) where he successfully received his PhD title in 2009. In 2010 he moved to Tarragona (Spain) as Post-doctoral associate at the Institut Català d’Investigació Química performing palladium-catalyzed Csp3-H amidation reactions, CO2 activation for the synthesis of carbamates and metal-free amination and diamination reactions.
Recently he was incorporated to Bayer Material Science in Tarragona (Spain) as Plant Manager Assistant for production process management.
