Postdoctoral researcher at the Esteve-ICIQ Joint Unit
Research topic: "Development of new chemical processes to obtain new scaffolds and building blocks that can generate new medicinal chemistry libraries"
I was born in Santander (Spain). I received my MSc in chemistry at Oviedo University (Spain) after a research stay in Cambridge University (UK) with Prof. Dominic Wright. In 2008, I received my Ph.D at Jaume I University (Spain) working with Prof. Miguel Carda. In 2009, I started a postdoctoral stage at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) with Dr. Ruben Martin. From July 2010 I am a project researcher at Esteve-ICIQ Joint Unit (Tarragona, Spain).
My scientific interest is the development of new chemical processes to obtain new scaffolds and building blocks that can generate new medicinal chemistry libraries.
During my phD I specialized in the stereoselective synthesis of natural products, my work was focused in the synthesis of lactones and spiroketals. During my post-doc I worked in the functionalization of inert C-H bonds using Palladium and in the activation of C-O bonds with Nickel with the aim of producing synthetically relevant new molecules.
I have signed to the Nobel Campus because the way it has been organized with roundtables and workshops will permit students and researches a real contact and also is a unique opportunity to meet international top scientific researchers.
