Chris Spicer

PhD student at the University of Oxford

Research topic: "The use of palladium catalysis in bio-conjugation, specifically the use of Suzuki-Miyaura couplings for protein modification"

I was born in Manchester, England, before moving to Oxfordshire as a child. I attended the University of Cambridge for my undergraduate studies in Natural Sciences, specialising in chemistry and undertook my master’s thesis in the group of Dr. Oren Scherman. I then moved to the University of Oxford, where I am currently a DPhil student under the supervision of Prof. Ben Davis. My work focuses on the use of palladium catalysis in bio-conjugation, specifically the use of Suzuki-Miyaura couplings for protein modification. I am looking forward to this opportunity to interact with experts in both the academic and industrial fields and to discuss the challenges facing the scientific community. I am also excited about being able to present and discuss my work with my peers whilst aiding my own development as a scientist.
