Postdoctoral researcher at the Henkel-ICIQ joint unit
Research topic: Organometallic chemistry
Verónica de la Fuente was born in La Selva del Camp (Spain) in 1984. She completed her undergraduate studies in 2006 at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Her Master degree was developed in collaboration with an industrial company in United Kingdom and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in 2007. She was awarded her PhD from the Universitat Rovira in 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Carmen Claver and Prof. Sergio Castillón for her work on the synthesis of ligands, their application in enantioselective catalysis, and the study of reaction mechanisms using NMR spectroscopy. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow in the Henkel-ICIQ joint unit at the Catalan Institute of Chemical Research (ICIQ). Her research interests cover the optimization of organic reactions, organic transformations catalysed by organometallic complexes, producing monomers, formulation tests and transferring a process from laboratory scale to a pilot plant. The participation in the Nobel Campus will afford her the opportunity of being in a plural discussion environment where several points of view about chemical projects, hot topics in chemistry for our society and the differences and similarities between the academic and industrial world will be discussed.
