PhD student at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ)
Research topic: "Metal catalyzed reactions for the activation of inert chemical bonds"
Joan Gallardo completed his undergraduate studies at the Universitat de Barcelona in 2009 with a Master’s degree in chemistry. During this time he developed new protocols for the solid phase synthesis of oligonucleotides under the guidance of Drs Xavier Ariza and Drs Jaume Farràs.
Afterwards he moved to Esteve Laboratories, where he completed the total synthesis
of biologically active compounds. Later on he moved to Drs Rubén Martín group, where he got another Master’s degree in chemistry (Universitat Rovira i Virgili) and completed a new protocol for the functionalization of inert C-H bonds. He is currently undertaken PhD studies
under the supervision of Drs Rubén Martín, working on metal catalyzed reactions for the activation of inert chemical bonds.
