Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ)
Research topic: "The development of novel transformations involving C¬–C and C–O bond activation"
Dr. Josep Cornellà was born in Barcelona. He received his undergraduate education at the Universitat de Barcelona, graduating in 2008 with a Master’s Degree in chemistry. During this time he completed a research project, under the guidance of Drs Xavier Ariza and Jordi Garcia, exploring the use of allylboranes for the enantioselective synthesis of diols. The same year, he joined the group of Dr Igor Larrosa at Queen Mary University of London (UK). Early 2012 he was awarded with the Ph.D. for the work involving silver-mediated decarboxylative transformations. Currently, he is PDRA at Dr Ruben Martín’s group at ICIQ (Spain) working on the development of novel transformations involving C¬–C and C–O bond activation.
