Susana Liébana

PhD student at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Research topic: Bioanalytical Chemistry / Electrochemical Biosensors

I was graduated in Chemistry in 2007 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where also received the master’s degree in Chemical Science and Technology in 2008. At present, I am a PhD student from Sensors and Biosensors Group at the Department of Chemistry at the UAB. For the last five years, I have been working on the development of immunosensing and genosensing strategies based on nanobiomaterials and magnetic particles for food safety applications under the supervision of Isabel Pividori and Salvador Alegret. During these years, I have participated in several projects and conferences, both national and international, as well as in a three months stay in Molecular Diagnostics Group at Philips Research in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Besides, I have taken an active part in the organization of the Bioanalytical Nanotechnology School (BANT) held in Manila, Philippines and Mexico City, Mexico. My interests are very broad, and directed towards not only the development of scientific knowledge but also the transference of this knowledge to society. Being part of the Nobel Campus is a great opportunity for me to widen my experience and to learn from senior scientists as well as from peer-to-peer discussion around topics relevant to personal and professional development, creating thus an active networking.
